So, guess I won’t ever hear it but it was real nice hearing the posted clips. I have a ton of them but really don’t like the sound of digital music so I haven’t even played most of my cds in years since getting back into vinyl around 2005. That’s a bummer because I like all the tracks posted up thread! And I like the first “schlock” ballad the best. I just tried to buy one on eBay and there are none. Appears there was no vinyl release, which makes sense given the time line. Like someone else said, I didn’t know this existed and was quite surprised. As always - her voice is in fine form, not really showing any signs of ageing. My favourite song here is 'Is There Anybody Here But Me' but 'Love My Girl' injects much needed oomph into an otherwise 'nice' adult contemporary album, and 'I'll Wait For You' slaps probably Laura's best composition - she didn't write terribly many songs over the years. Roxette would release their version of 'The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye', to my knowledge, Gloria Estefan has never released her version of 'Love My Girl'. Even though there are some 'name' songwriters here, they sound like leftover songs - not tracks written specifically for Laura. I'm not particularly surprised it didn't make a dent - the singles were underwhelming, it wasn't promoted particularly well and Laura was into her 40's now and the record buying public had moved on. I didn't even know it existed at all until I saw it in a record store much later. Got a few polite notices in the music press but seems to have disappeared without a trace - barely scraped into the Aussie charts and doesn't seemed to have chartered anywhere else.

This is far from my favourite Laura album - yet it's a very good, polished, mature record. A few promotional singles lifted from here but no major single released - will discuss those songs separately. The final track is traditional song that is sung in Sotho (a South African language) that Laura recorded over there with a children's choir. Contains a Spanish song ('Mujer Contra Mujer' - the second time Laura sung in Spanish, she gusted on a Luis Miguel album in 1987). The Bolton composition, 'It's Been Hard Enough Getting Over You' was first sung by Cher in 1987 (an interesting reversal of fortune here, Cher had covered Laura's 'I Found Someone' the same year). An interesting array of songwriters here Michael Bolton yet again, Gloria Estefan, Roxette's Per Gessle, Laura herself and her brother, Billy Branigan (who himself had a short lived career and solo album). Laura again produced a few tracks herself.
